Pictures:
* Kyle had a chat with Paws and Paws didn't like his Cubs hat so he turned it around. Well, Kyle really didn't like that, as you can see from this picture. He started to tear up, that mean Paws!
* Kyle and mommy at the game.
* Ryan and mommy at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Proof that we did something fun with just him (and Kyle!) :-)
* Ed, Kyle and a tiger in the background.
* Ed and his dad on Wrigley Field
* Logan family (minus Mark who was taking the pic!) at Wrigley Field before the event
It sure does feel like home again as I've been there two weekends in a row now. However, this trip was more family oriented :-) First of all, our weekend really started on Thursday afternoon when Ed, Kyle and I went to Comerica Park to see the Tigers play the Cubs. It doesn't get any better in this house, especially when we're sitting right down the third base line, right near Paws (Tigers mascot)! Of course, it was the hottest day to-date, 93 degrees at game time. We took turns taking Kyle up to the concourse to cool off but enjoyed the game nonetheless. The rain held off until the game had ended and the Tigers swept the Cubs...yeah for me, not so fun for Ed.
On Friday morning, we dropped Brooke and Jack off at Ms. Cheryl's and Ed, Kyle, Ryan and I headed to Chicago. We went right to Lincoln Park Zoo in the city and had a wonderful time. It wasn't very crowded and we were able to see most of the animals. Kyle really enjoyed the lions, zebras, rhino and most of all, the monkeys. They were VERY crazy as they were flying, wildly across the cages via ropes, poles and the cage. Seriously, everyone was looking on in awe of these crazy monkeys! After the zoo we went to our hotel, checked in, then walked to get Giordano's Pizza. It was VERY strange to only have two kids. We now know what it would be like to be the normal family of four :-) We had a great dinner then walked down Michigan Ave for awhile before heading back to the hotel. Kyle and Ed got in a quick dip in the pool then it was off to bed as we had a big Saturday planned.
Saturday morning we had a nice, leisurely breakfast (doesn't happen much at our house, so noteworthy here) then headed up to Wrigley Field for Ed and his dad's fathers day gift. The Cubs do a charity event called, "Hey Dad, Wanna Catch?". We met up with his dad, sisters and brother then Ed and his dad got to go out on the field, play catch, check out the infield and see what it's like to look out into the stands. A pretty cool experience as they are both life long Cubs fans. We all sat in the stands and watched (Kyle got to go out and run the bases with them) then they served us lunch. A very cool day spent with the Logan family. We then parted ways and headed back to Michigan.
Ryan was a superstar traveler and a great baby to have taken on the trip. Kyle, on the other hand, is either A) still getting over his virus and rather crabby, B) starting his terrible twos late and is very whiny or C) all of the above. My guess is C but either way, it's getting old very quickly to be moving on to this next stage. I consider myself a pretty patient person, until it comes to whining, then, not so patient. I REALLY hope this stage ends soon or I may have to have my hair dyed more often!?!? We did really miss Brooke and Jack. It was great to pick them up when we got home late on Saturday night :-)
A piece of good news...we found a wonderful dog sitter! Her name is Miss Renee (her mom is a friend of mine AND our house cleaner, what a great family :-) and she took great care of Macey this weekend. So much so, that she'll be watching her again over the 4th. Hopefully Renee likes Macey as much as we like having her watch her!
We needed Sunday to recover from our very busy weekend. I bought the kids a new pool and the babies enjoyed it today. Kyle enjoyed it sitting outside of it filling up buckets, etc. One of these days, he may break out of his "timid" shell. Another one of the things that gets old, especially because I'm not like that and have trouble understanding it.
We're headed to Champaign this Thursday evening for a long July 4th weekend. I can't even keep up with our crazy, busy life :-)
