Happy 21 months babies!
Ryan, Brooke & Jack (papa and daddy too!) on the slide. It's amazing how time has completely flown by and we're getting close to their second birthday. No one ever said triplets would be easy...and they were right!? They are a lot of work and we do have our hands full! These are two sayings that people say to us all of the time. We have good days and bad, but they sure do bring a smile to my face :-) Here's an update on what everyone is doing:

Ryan
• Ryan is the biggest of the three and is all muscle. He is so strong and such a tough kid. With his toughness comes his very strong will. He’ll be doing something and you’ll tell him no. In his eyes, this just means do it more! And if he’s trying something and can’t do it, he gets very upset.
• Ryan is still the best sleeper. You just give him his paci (which he keeps in his crib) and he’ll lay down and go to sleep. Sometimes you’ll hear Jack in the bedroom trying to get Ryan to play by throwing a pillow or something over his crib and into Ryan’s. Rarely do you hear Ryan at night or in the morning talking in bed. He’ll wait until you come to get him out of bed, then want to play hide and seek.
• He seems to be the most coordinated. We think with his strength and coordination, he’s the one most destined to get that athletic scholarship to Michigan :-)
• When he sucks on his paci or just relaxing, he’s very tactile. He likes to rub his, or your finger, if you’re holding him, on the little ventilation hole on the side of his paci. If he doesn’t have his paci, he’ll rub his shirt or blanket. This is what Kyle used to do when he was a baby too!
• He’s the least vocal at this point. He does talk but is the hardest of the three to understand. He’ll point or show you what he wants and has a few words that are very clear: milk, eat, please, juice, Brooke, KyKy (Kyle), Jack, mommy, dada, papa, ama (Grandma), Mak (Uncle Mark), truck
• Ryan LOVES to eat and is always the first to finish. I can’t think of anything that Ryan doesn’t like! He’s very good at using a fork and spoon. He loves to poke his food with the fork and is very adept at using the spoon to get every last drop of yogurt out of the container!

Brooke
• Miss vocal! Brooke loves to talk (surprise, surprise!) and run the show. She’s a very happy little girl who loves to laugh and giggle. She’ll say, “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy” until I look, then she’ll point to something to show me. She loves to do this in the van when she’s watching Elmo. I can’t see the video but she wants to show me, especially when she see’s a baby or Mr. Noodle!
• She’s such the little mommy to the boys. Usually Jack is slacking behind us or is wandering in the other direction. Brooke will wait for him to catch up or say “Jack! Mere! (come here!). When he catches up, she’ll put her hand on his back to move him along.
• She has lots of words and can string three or four words together. The word that sounds the cutest is when she says, “apple juice, pease (please) mommy”.
• Brooke will also say “Mere, mere (come here)! And then she’ll take your face and turn it so you’re looking, then points to something for you to see.
• Last night we were in the van and she said “uh oh!”. I turned around and she burped, then said, Buurrp! Then she said, “scuse you!” (instead of excuse me). Ed and I were cracking up!
• Some of Brooke’s favorite words are: Mommy (5,000+ times each day!), daddy, daddy home work?, Ama (grandma), papa, Macey, KyKy, RyRy, Yack (Jack), apple juice, nana (banana), ynack (snack), yogurt, Cheryl/Gary/Cole (so cute how she’s says them), Jill (Aunt Jill)
• Brooke is also a great eater and will eat most anything. Unfortunately she barely chews her food and you have to remind her often to only put in one thing at a time.
• She loves clothes already. In the morning, she’ll help me pick out something to wear. She’ll pull something out of her drawer and say “pretty!”
• She’s afraid of balloons! The boys all take advantage of that to torment her. The poor thing will grow up to have some thick skin!

Jack
• Mr. Smiley usually means he’s getting into trouble! He usually has a pretty happy demeanor and is always saying hi and bye to anyone who will look at him. His smile is so sweet and contagious.
• He’s definitely the ring leader. His latest thing is to scream (then smile!) to get your reaction. This, in turn, gets all of the other three to then scream. It continues as they each laugh at each other. Never a good thing, especially in a restaurant!
• Jack is also the stinker who will laugh as you tell him no to something, then continue to do it until you physically get him to stop.
• He still loves to put everything in his mouth.
• Jack is still the skinniest of the trio and eats the least. He’s a very slow eater and is the pickiest. He loves yogurt and thinks it’s a lot more fun to eat with his hands rather than his spoon!
• Jack is very vocal too and loves to repeat words. Some of his favorites are: mommy, dada, Macey, papa, ama, KyKy, RyRy, Book (Brooke), nana (banana), ogurt (yogurt), pees (please)
• Of the triplets, Jack seems to love Macey the most. He will try to play with her, hug her, pet her, try to give her a kiss and play with her tail. He’s the only one who will give Macey a treat. The others drop the treat on the floor.
There are several things that all of the triplets are doing:
• You’ll ask a question of them i.e. who wants to eat dinner? They will all raise their hand and say “me!”. Ryan pretty much wants to do everyone thing that you form into a question!
• They all love most of the same foods: yogurt, blueberries, spinach, mushroom or cheese pasta, pizza and sweet potatoes are some of their favorites.
• They all seem to have scraped knees or a bruised forehead these days. They definitely get their “gracefulness” from their mommy. Sorry guys!
• They love going to music class
• LOVE to dance! We’ll turn on the I-Pod (fav CD is Pottery Barn Sing!) and they will all dance. Kyle taught them the robot dance where they have their arms perpendicular to the floor and move them up and down. It’s so cute to see all four of them doing it together!
• They are starting to play and laugh with each other. The cutest is when you hear them in their cribs in the morning. They entertain themselves and make each other giggle.
• They all sleep 12+ hours each night. They go to bed around 7:30/8 and wake up the same time in the morning. Ryan and Brooke usually go right down after daddy sings to them but Jack talks (or whines, depending on the night!) for a little while longer. He’s usually then the last to wake up.
• One of the hardest thing about having triplets is when they see one on your lap (or being held) the others usually want the same thing. There have been mornings where I carry all three of them out of their room together because if you put one down, they sometimes cry and have a fit! It makes for some strong biceps!
• They all LOVE to be outside! The thing they are into the most these days is their water table. I have it on the back deck and it’s very easy to fill. The water usually ends up all over them but they’re having fun in the meantime :-)
