Kyle, Ed and I took our second annual trip to Chicago for a Cubs game. Last year we thought it was a great way to have some one on one time with him and had so much fun that we decided to do it again this year. The triplets stayed with Cheryl for the night while we left on Thursday afternoon and arrived in Chicago in time for dinner. Kyle and Ed convinced me that we needed to eat pizza so we walked a few blocks to eat, then walked around town on a gorgeous summer evening in the Windy City.

On Friday, we ate breakfast and headed to the game. Of course, in true Ed fashion, we had to arrive at the game when the gates opened, to see batting practice. Thank goodness Kyle loves baseball :-) It was VERY hot but we had fun watching the players warm up and I befriended an usher who talked my ear off for about 1/2 hour, so it helped the time go by faster :-)
Kyle's highlight of the day was the purchase of his Cubs fan/mister. I loved it because he kept us all cool. He must have been pretty hot too because he actually squirted his own face on numerous occasions. Once we loaded up with peanuts, hot dogs, cotton candy, etc. we headed to our seats. Kyle was very disappointed to learn that his favorite player, Kosuke Fukedome, wasn't playing today. He was, however, able to identify several of the other players. During the top of the ninth, the sky started to get really dark. The Cubs made it exciting but ended up losing. It started to sprinkle then the clouds opened up after the final out. As we were trying to leave the stadium, the rain was coming in sideways and running down the ramp like a river!
It was a long drive home that night but we had a great trip. Hopefully we'll be able to make our third annual trip next year. Kyle's already decided that one of the babies gets to come with us :-)
